Police alleged that two 19-year-old Grade 12 pupils were gambling on the school premises when a fight broke out.

A 19-year-old scholar appeared in the Modimolle Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, facing a charge of murder for allegedly killing a fellow pupil, Limpopo police said.

“He was remanded in custody with no bail until the 14 September 2017 for bail application and for further police investigations,” police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said.

Errol Lehutso Mapholo was arrested on Wednesday at the Solomon Mhlangu High School in Modimolle.

Ngoepe said it is alleged that two 19-year-old Grade 12 pupils were gambling on the school premises when a fight broke out and they were taken to the principal’s office.

“… After the intervention process, the suspect stabbed the deceased with a sharp instrument, killing him instantly on the way back to the classes. The police were summoned to the crime scene, reacted swiftly and arrested the suspect.”
