Four injured as minibus taxi crashes into tree in Cape Town

A minibus taxi crashed into a tree on the M3 between Tokai and Steenberg.

Four people were seriously injured when a minibus taxi crashed into a tree on the M3 between Tokai and Steenberg in Cape Town in the early hours of Saturday morning, paramedics said.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene they found the four occupants still seated in the taxi, ER24 spokeswoman Ineke van Huyssteen said.

“The male driver of the taxi was in a serious condition and was entrapped. The other three patients, all female, were also still seated in the taxi. They sustained moderate to serious injuries.”

The three women were transported by ER24 to Mediclinic Constantiaberg and the taxi driver was transported by Metro emergency medical services (EMS) to Groote Schuur hospital for further medical care.

The circumstances surrounding the accident were not yet known, Van Huyssteen said.
