Two dead, 14 injured as two minibus taxis collide in KZN

Two people died and 14 others were injured when two minibus taxis collided in Wartburg, northeast of Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday morning, paramedics said.

Upon ER24’s arrival at 10.20am, the South African Police Service were already on the scene, ER24 spokeswoman Ineke van Huyssteen said.

“Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for two women on the scene and ER24 declared them dead. Various medical services transported the [injured] patients to nearby hospitals for further medical care.”

The circumstances surrounding the accident were not yet known, Van Huyssteen said.
