Several shots were fired at Frans Mnguni, 41, while he was sitting in his car on Thursday, Beeld newspaper reported on Friday.

His brother Godfrey, a paramedic in the SA National Defence Force, told the Afrikaans daily he was convinced the drive-by shooting was related to taxi rivalry.

“He [his brother] has been talking about getting a new route.”

Mnguni is survived by his wife and three children.
