Icasa granted individual, medium wave commercial sound broadcasting service, and spectrum licences to Mainstream 1035 (Pty) Ltd for TalkSport Radio and Extriserve (Pty) Ltd for LM Radio, both of which are in Gauteng.

The third licence was awarded to Altius Trading 460 (Pty) Ltd for Magic 828 which would broadcast in Cape Town, it said in a statement.

After publishing an invitation to apply for the licences, Icasa received seven applications. Three were from Gauteng, two from Durban and two from Cape Town.
