Driver critical after Joburg apparent hit-and-run

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

A man believed to be in his 40s is in a critical condition after an apparent hit-and-run car crash on the corner of Ontdekkers and Corlett roads in Witpoortjie in Johannesburg on Friday night.

“At the time of their arrival, ER24 paramedics found the driver of the red Ford Fiesta trapped under his car. The jaws-of-life had to be used to free the patient and he was airlifted to a nearby hospital for further care,” ER24 spokesperson Annine Siddall said on Saturday.

“It is believed that the driver of another vehicle involved in this collision fled the scene. The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” Siddall said.
