Economic Freedom Fighters supporters gathered outside the Sunnyside police station in Pretoria around lunch time on Thursday.

The supporters, wearing EFF red T-shirts and berets, were waiting for party leader Julius Malema to arrive.

Malema is expected to lay charges against President Jacob Zuma following the release on Wednesday of Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s final report on the upgrades to Zuma’s private Nkandla homestead in KwaZulu-Natal.

The crowd of about 200 shouted slogans criticising Zuma and the ruling ANC, and caused a traffic snarl-up in Leyds Street.

In her report, Madonsela found that Zuma had “unduly benefited from the enormous capital investment” in the Nkandla upgrades. These had totalled R246 million.
