Boy drowns in Randfontein farm dam

Police divers were called in to search the farm dam and they found the boy’s body shortly after 1am.

A 7-year-old boy drowned at a farm dam in Randfontein, paramedics said on Thursday.

Netcare 911 spokeswoman Athlenda Mathe said the boy was last seen by his parents at about 3pm on Wednesday. Police and other services searched the farm for hours trying to locate the boy.

Police divers were called in to search the farm dam and they found the boy’s body shortly after 1am. He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Mathe urged parents to be very vigilant of their children in the vicinity of water sources, such as dams and rivers.
