PE teenager in court on charges including murder

The 18-year old was arrested for the murder of 17-year-old Travino Skosana during a gang-related shooting.

A teenager is expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates’ Court on Monday on a charge of murder and two charges of attempted murder, Eastern Cape police said.

The 18-year old was arrested for the murder of 17-year-old Travino Skosana during a gang-related shooting in Bethelsdorp in the city’s gang-plagued northern areas over the weekend.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the fatal shooting took place in Arcadia, Bethelsdorp,

She said Skosana was in the company of a group of men near a Cash and Carry Supermarket on Rensburg Street when the shooting incident occurred.

Skosana sustained several gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Two other young men, aged 22 and 23, also sustained gunshot wounds and are recovering in hospital.

Naidu said shortly after the incident, the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit arrested a teenager at his home.
