Two men were arrested by members of Prosecure Security after they were found in possession of stolen goods in the early hours of Saturday morning in Durban, Rising Sun Chatsworth reports.
According to members of Prosecure, they were patrolling the area when they noticed the suspects carrying a plasma television and other hair products, allegedly stolen from a salon in the Chatsworth Main.
Captain Cheryl Pillay spokesperson said both suspects appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, on charges of burglary and theft.
Owner of the salon, Hair by Mel, which was broken into, Melisha Ramdhani said she ias grateful to the security company for their swift action and support.
“I express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the security guards of Prosecure. Although they are not employed by me to patrol or guard my business, they were hands on in apprehending the suspects and recovering the stolen items. The members also waited with me until my shop window was repaired. We need more dedicated people like those who assisted me to help rid the area of criminals and criminal activity,” she added.
Station commander of the Chatsworth police Brigadier Coenraad Marais commended the members on the swift action taken and the successful apprehension of the suspects.
“We encourage store owners to deposit their takings for the day and not to leave cash in the store,” he said.
