Mpumalanga police arrest 4 escapees

The community is hereby requested to further assist with information that may lead to the arrest of Tshireledzo Makhadzi, who is the remaining fugitive on the list.

Police in Mpumalanga have recaptured four of the five suspects who escaped from police custody at the weekend.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said an intelligence-driven operation led to the recapture of the suspects who had escaped from the Acornhoek police cells.

“The arrested fugitives, Mashaba Lody, Katekani Lubisi, Sabata Maboi and Prosperity Moeng will appear soon before the Acornhoek and Bushbuckridge Magistrates’ Courts, facing their initial cases, as well as an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody.

“The community is hereby requested to further assist with information that may lead to the arrest of Tshireledzo Makhadzi, who is the remaining fugitive on the list. Anyone with information is requested to contact Lieutenant Colonel Hanyani Mushwana at 0824691298.”
