The house was acquired by the state in 2004 for R11.4m and was renovated for a further R4m.

A Bryanston house set aside for the Gauteng Premier David Makhura is set to be auctioned off.

This has been touted as a cost-cutting measure. The house was acquired by the state in 2004 for R11.4 million and was renovated for a further R4 million.

The mansion has never been used by Makhura and is one of 400 government-owned properties that will be auctioned to raise funds to be channeled towards township economic revitalisation programmes as well as bursaries.
