A taxi rolled multiple times and collided with a truck on the N1 North after the Buccleuch Interchange, injuring 17 people on Tuesday.
Emer-G-Med spokesperson Max Cohen said: “It’s believed that one of the taxi’s back tyres burst. The driver lost control, causing the taxi to roll multiple times before a truck collided with it.”
Cohen said Emer-G-Med dispatched a response vehicle and multiple ambulances to the scene shortly before 1pm.
“On assessment, paramedics found that the 17 patients, including a one-month-old child, had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. They were treated at the scene before being transported to various nearby hospitals for further care,” added Cohen.
He said the Johannesburg metro police were at the scene to investigate further.
