The men are accused of stabbing Quinton Williams several times and attempting to castrate him.

Three men charged with the murder of a man whose penis was almost castrated during the alleged attack, appeared in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Monday.

The murder trial of Jean Uithaler, 20, Khawulelani Gqunta, 19, and Sinethemba Mfihlo, 19, is yet to get under way.

According to the state, in June 2014, Quinton Williams, a warder at St Albans Prison, was on his way home from a tavern in Booysens Park and was followed by the three.

They tripped Williams and demanded money but when he couldn’t produce any, they assaulted him with stones and bricks.

The men stabbed Williams several times and attempted to castrate him.

“While the deceased was lying down, one of the accused undressed the deceased of his pair of trousers and attempted to cut off his penis with a knife,” the indictment reads.

The men are facing charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances. They have not yet pleaded.
