Bollywood aficionados are in for a treat with a three-day cultural extravaganza taking over the Sandton Convention Centre from December 2 to 4, reports the Rosebank Killarney Gazette.

The annual Blu Blood Bollywood Experience will celebrate everything Bollywood under one roof. From the best musical talents to top class comedy; the finest local and international fashion to the tastes and smells of the East, there will be much on offer.

From 9am to 9pm every day, there will be something for the whole family. The weekend kicks off with the Mela (taking place over the three days) – a shopper’s delight – featuring around 200 unique exhibitors with everything from fashion, jewellery, home appliances, decor, henna art, food, music, a children’s entertainment centre, a full day’s entertainment stage with over two hundred local entertainers and so much more.

The crème de la crème of top Indian fashion designers – the likes of the acclaimed Vikram Phadnis, Joy Mitra, Krishna Mehtra and Pawan & Pranav will showcase their latest collections in a fashion extravaganza paired up with incredible local musicians, dancers and comedians in the Blu Blood Bollywood Variety Show on December 2.

Comedy lovers can look forward to a stellar line-up on December 3 with the very best of South Africa’s Indian comedians as they take laughter and hilarity to the next level in Kings & Queens of Comedy And All. The royal line-up includes the likes of Riaad Moosa, Yaaseen Barnes, Simmi Arreff and Leeanda Reddy.

The event culminates with undoubtedly two of the biggest powerhouses in the Bollywood music industry – Sonu Nigam and Atif Aslam live in concert on December 4. While no strangers to South Africa, they’ve both performed to sold-out audiences with Blu Blood around the country, but this will be the first time on African soil that these two megastars will be sharing a stage. Performing all their greatest hits and paying tribute to the music legends of India and Pakistan, this performance will leave you in awe. They will be accompanied by musicians from India and Pakistan as well as an international dance troupe.

“The Blu Blood Bollywood Experience is an annual event that South African and African Indian communities look forward to. It is a lifestyle and entertainment spectacular. It enlists local and international entertainers, celebrities and the likes to culminate the year in a Bollywood extravaganza,” said Blu Blood CEO Shaaista Khan Osman.

Blu Blood managing director Osman Osman added: “Sandton is going to be ‘Bollyfied’ this December, this is one memorable event certainly not to be missed!”

Tickets are currently available for Sonu Nigam and Atif Aslam from Computicket and Shoprite Checkers outlets. Tickets range from R250 to R5000 with room packages at Tsogo Sun’s range of hotels being made available.
