Unlicensed pistol, ammunition recovered by Ladysmith K9 unit

The suspect is due in the Ladysmith Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm at a homestead in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said “the man was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and several rounds of ammunition”.

Zwane said that on Thursday morning, officers from the Ladysmith K9 unit worked on information that they had received earlier and swooped on a house in the Hobsland area and arrested a man and also recovered ammunition belonging to another calibre firearm.

“The suspect is due in the Ladysmith Magistrates’ Court on Friday to face charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as ammunition,” Zwane said.
