He was arrested at a flat in Meyer Street, in the Germiston CBD, on Friday night after a tip-off, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said in a statement.

Five bags containing the drug cat (methcathinone), 4000 ecstasy tablets, five litre containers filled with chemicals, and 10 containers with traces of chemicals suspected to be used in drug manufacturing were confiscated. The drugs were worth about R100,000 on the street.

The 38-year-old man had asylum-seeker status.
