Reports have surfaced that a Springs high school learner may have been murdered while on vacation overseas, reports the Springs Advertiser.
Amanda Greybe, spokesperson for the Springs police, has confirmed the learner’s death but said they had very few details at the moment, as they have just recently been informed.
Facebook pages in South Africa are alleging the 17-year-old was murdered, but Greybe said at this stage the South African Police Service (SAPS) has not received confirmation that the death was due to unnatural causes.
It is unclear when the learner died or how but Greybe said they believed the death took place in Mauritius.
She stressed, however, that since the death occurred on foreign soil, the SAPS has not yet been fully informed as to the cause of death or whether any charges would be brought.
