A shooting incident occurred at about 6.30am this morning, leaving one man injured in the process, Westside Eldos reports.

Station commander for Sophiatown Police Station Brigadier Susan Crafford said the man was shot in his right thigh.

“The man has been transported to a hospital, and a full investigation is under way.

“A few names of perpetrators were brought up, but very few are known perpetrators, according to our records,” said Crafford.

Calvin Cass, a resident from the community, said it was encouraging to see more police visibility in the area.

“It is unfortunate, however, that the shooting has occurred, but from what I have seen, the police have increased visibility, and this is a good thing,” Cass said.

Crafford said the men involved fled in a white bakkie.

A formal investigation is under way.
