Police have launched a manhunt for seven suspects after a series of crimes in Randfontein South, in Gauteng, during the weekend, Randfontein Herald reports.
All the incidents took place on Saturday, September 10.
According tom Tarlton police spokesperson Constable Lucky Matome, the armed suspects first entered a home in Randfontein South. There they held up a 53-year-old man, taking his cellphones, DVD player, blankets and bank cards.
On the same night and on the same property, Matome said the suspects allegedly proceeded to the garage, where they found a 33-year-old woman and her family. The suspects allegedly tied up the husband and then raped the woman.
In the same area, the same suspects robbed two more houses, taking TVs, tablets, laptops and other valuables.
“The value of all the stolen items is not yet known. We are appealing to anyone who might have any information to assist the police in the investigation,” Matome said.
“We also want to warn the community not to try and apprehend these criminals, as they are armed and dangerous,” he added.
