A City To City bus caught fire this morning along Griffith Road in Bosmont, sending massive plumes of smoke into the air that could be seen from Johannesburg to the West Rand.
According to eye-witnesses the fire started out small and the Bosmont Community Patrol had to talk the driver out of the bus, but it escalated quickly eventually engulfing the bus leaving nothing but a burnt out carcass.
The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services arrived on the scene approximately 20 minutes after the fire started but the bus was already too far gone.
The bus was not carrying any passengers at the time and nobody was injured in the incident.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and will be the subject of an investigation.
