Truck collision leaves man seriously injured

It is believed the man’s bakkie hit a cow before crashing into a truck.

A man was seriously injured when he was hit by a bus on Edendale Road in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday night, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man lying in the yellow lane. The bus had stopped about 50 metres in front of him, ER24 spokeswoman Chitra Bodasing said.

“Upon assessment of the man it was found that he sustained multiple injuries.”

The man, believed to be 28 years of age, was provided with advanced life support treatment and transported to hospital for further medical care. The bus driver was uninjured. There were no passengers in the bus. Details surrounding the accident were unknown, Bodasing said.

In another incident, a man was seriously injured when his bakkie hit a cow and then crashed into a truck on Maropeng Road in Krugersdorp on the East Rand on Saturday night, paramedics said.

It was believed that the bakkie swerved after hitting the cow and collided with a truck, ER24 spokeswoman Chitra Bodasing said.

“Upon arrival at the scene, ER24 paramedics found both vehicles in the veld. The cow was lying on the side of the road. The man, believed to be in his 60s was assessed, treated, and transported to hospital for further medical care,” Bodasing said.
