ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa was expected to deliver the key note address at the launch later in the day.
Busses lined the street along side the stadium, while people queued in to enter the stadium.
Party revellers were checked by security upon entering and then given a yellow T-shirt and a bottle of water.
Inside the stadium several areas were condoned off with a huge stage in the middle from which music was being played.
In front of the stage crowd control fences were lined with marshals in bright neon vests.
The area in front of the marshals was filled with supporters in yellow ANC T-shirts.
Majority of supporters wore hats or stood under umbrellas to shield themselves from the scorching sun in Kimberley.
Amongst the yellow crowed were groups sitting eating from brown paper bags with a green sticker reading “Vote ANC”.
Empty bags littered the area.
To one side of the public area a TV broadcasting unit was sending out a live interview with Northern Cape secretary Zumane Saul.
Young children made the most of the time by dancing, while an announcer yelled out “Halala” and ANC slogans welcoming supporters.
