An Air Zimbabwe public relations executive has been found dead in Botswana in a suspected case of murder, days after she went missing in the neighbouring country.

Botswana police are said to have found Shingai Dhliwayo, who was in her early 30s, dead in a bush and sent her body to an unnamed mortuary.

Dhliwayo, who also ran a décor and catering company Shekinah Wedding Décor Unlimited, is said to have left for Botswana on April 30 on personal business after the recently ended Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

She was supposed to have attended a meeting there and returned to Zimbabwe the following day, the state-run Chronicle reported on Monday.

The family panicked last Monday after she had not communicated home about her whereabouts.

Last Wednesday, on May 4, the family decided to travel to Botswana to search for her, and the police there directed her husband and parents to the unnamed mortuary to check if the body left there was hers. They identified her body on Saturday, May 7.

AirZim’s passenger and cargo general manager confirmed Dhliwayo’s death.

“Details of her death are still very sketchy. I don’t even know the city where the body was found,” he said.

Her body awaits repatriation.

The Botswana police could not be reached for comment.
