Hundreds of Wits university students, staff members and friends gathered outside the Great Hall in black commemorating the lives of their late fellow students.

Among the crowd were members of the Wits ZCC student fellowship carrying candles, mourning the loss of their fellow church members.
The gathering follows the accident in Limpopo last Sunday that killed eight Wits students.
According to Limpopo traffic authorities, the minibus they were travelling in crashed into a stationary trailer at night, which resulted in the taxi catching fire and killing eight students, a driver and injuring other six passengers.
Wits has since been flying a flag to honour the dead students.
Staff members and students brought flowers in front of the Great Hall during the commemoration.
