“ANC would lose its moral standing in society if it fails to act against Zuma.”

Plans to remove embattled President Jacob Zuma from office continue to mount within his party and the opposition.

On Wednesday, one of the biggest ANC branches in Gauteng, the ANC Sefako Makgatho region in the Greater Johannesburg region wrote a letter to the ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe calling on the party’s national executive committee to request Zuma to resign as both ANC leader and president of the republic.

Branch secretary Mpulelele Vabaza warned that the ANC would lose its moral standing in society and the integrity of its own internal disciplinary processes will be compromised if the party fails to act against Zuma.

Meanwhile civil society organisations will on Wednesday afternoon announce plans for Zuma’s removal.-ngwakom@citizen.co.za
