Police in Muldersdrift, Gauteng, are on the hunt for two suspects who allegedly shot and killed a man and his dog during an armed robbery recently.
According to police, two unknown men entered a house in Old Pretoria Road and pointed a firearm at two victims at about 11:40pm on Good Friday, Roodepoort Northsider reported.
“[The suspects] ordered the two men to lie down on the ground and then proceeded to demand money and other items,” Muldersdrift police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya said.
The home owner’s dog came into the house and tried to rescue the victims. It was then that the suspect shot and killed the dog.
“The victim stood up trying to fight back and was also shot in the upper body. Paramedics certified him dead on their arrival,” added Ngwenya.
It is further alleged that the suspects took a handbag from the house and fled the scene on foot. A cases of armed robbery and murder are currently being investigated.
The police are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, to come forward. As the suspects are deemed to be extremely dangerous, members of the public have also been urged not to approach them.
