An 11-year-old boy has been released into the care of his parents after he allegedly killed a teenager during a fight in Malvern, Johannesburg at the weekend.
Cleveland SAPS spokesperson, Constable Mpho Mashakane said the child and another boy, 14, were playing next to Berlin and Station streets on Saturday, Joburg East Express reported.
“The boys were playing when a fight broke out between the two. The 11-year- old hit the other one with a steel rod on the head. The boy was taken to the local fire station where he was certified dead,” Mashakane said.
This after police in Thohoyandou, Limpopo launched an investigation into the murder of a 12-year-old boy, who was shot and killed by a younger friend at Maniini village earlier this year.
It is believed the younger boy, 10, was playing with his 12-year-old friend, when he allegedly pulled the trigger, killing the older boy.
The victim was certified dead at the scene by paramedics. It was unclear how the boy got hold of the firearm.
