A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death in the KwaZulu-Natal coastal resort town of Margate on Friday.

Police spokesman Major Thulani Zwane said that the circumstances surrounding the early morning stabbing were still being investigated.

He said the stabbing took place near the Olympic pool on the Margate beach front.

“He had stabbed wounds on his chest, back and hands. The motive for the killing is unknown and the police are still investigating. No arrests have been made,” said Zwane.

It was not known if the man is a local or a tourist. Zwane said the man’s identity was not known.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said there was little that could be done for the man as he had died before paramedics arrived on scene.
