The deceased may have been sitting in the front of the taxi and flung to the back on impact.

A man was killed and 13 others injured Thursday morning after their taxi rear ended a truck in Johannesburg, ER24 paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the accident occurred on London Road in Alexandra.

Meiring said paramedics found both vehicles in the middle of the road, with the front of the taxi wedged beneath the truck’s trailer.

“A man was found laying trapped inside the taxi … showing no signs of life. Unfortunately the man had already succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on scene,” Meiring said.

The deceased may have been sitting in the front of the taxi and flung to the back on impact.

Thirteen other injured taxi passengers were found on scene.

Paramedics treated the injured before they were transported to hospital.

Meiring said the road was closed for some time and traffic was heavily affected in the area.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
