Pravin brews up a popular mix

The Finance Minister also had alcohol on his mind yesterday, but his was a much better idea than his counterpart’s at the Health Department.

Pravin Gordhan announced that alcohol will no longer be served at state functions, in an attempt to cut back on wasteful expenditure in the public service.

The mini budget also cuts other perks enjoyed by public officials, including the amount of money that can be used for official vehicles, hotel stays and the by-now-infamous government credit cards.

It’s good to see that at least one minister seems to be paying attention to citizens’ sentiments.
