Yet there is reason to be cautious. While the Bulls fully deserve their place at the top of the South African conference and second on the combined log, they were less than convincing on their last couple of outings.
In fact just two weeks ago they were given a 30-13 thrashing by the Stormers at Newlands. Nor is the blue mania at Loftus always such a telling factor. The week before the drubbing by the Stormers, the Bulls may have been lucky to scrape a 20-19 victory against a Sharks side which had left its kicking boots at home, and whose stand-in captain, Butch James, basically threw the game away with his reckless play.
In addition, tonight the Bulls have to outwit one of the smartest coaches in the business, Jake White, who knows a thing or two about South African Rugby.
The Bulls will also be missing influential players such as Pierre Spies and Juandré Kruger. But the blue machine has emerged victorious from all five previous home knockouts. Bet on blue again.
