Wallabies won’t roll over for Boks

Springbok rugby fans are talking up a good game for this evening’s clash against the Wallabies at Newlands.

Having comprehensively beaten them on their turf, we must naturally do even better when we have home ground advantage, right? Not really.

It would be foolish to write off the Aussies and start betting on our winning margin. Australian rugby is first and foremost intelligent.

The Brisbane defeat, as well as other Bok games, will have been examined in detail. It is unlikely that flyhalf Quade Cooper will play as badly as he did at Suncorp.

The Wallabies also have a genuine danger man in fullback Israel Folau. Even off the bench, scrumhalf Will Genia can cause headaches for the Boks.

The Wallaby pack will be boosted by the return of lock James Horwill and tighthead Ben Alexander.

Of course we can boast about having more firepower among the forwards and a rare talent in Fourie du Preez at scrumhalf.

Yes, the Boks are favourites but the Aussies won’t easily grant the victory the Boks need if SA are to win the Rugby Championship.

Weather could be a great leveller.
