Equality before the law a myth

We are all equal before the law. So says our constitution.

But is this truly the case? Two high-profile criminal cases – that of convicted killer Paralympian Oscar Pistorius and honeymoon murder-accused Shrien Dewani – have proved beyond doubt this is far from true.

Pistorius is currently the subject of a correctional services investigation following reports his siblings were allowed to take a cake, balloons and gift bag into the Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria.
