Numsa expulsion a game-changer

Quite a few political events in South Africa have been labelled game-changers. Few lived up to that epithet. For example, the short-lived marriage between the DA and Mamphela Ramphele was a damp squib.

Although there are occasional seismic shifts, the political landscape generally changes quite slowly. The expulsion of the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) from the Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) has been a long time coming.
