ANC should heed Pravin’s words

Cooperative Governance Minister Pravin Gordhan is certainly one of a few remaining voices of reason within the ruling party. Never shy to speak his mind, regardless of the potential negative repercussions his public statements might have on his political career, the former finance minister was his true self this week, cautioning against the arrogant culture of entitlement.

He correctly warned his fellow politicians to treat voters with respect. Speaking at a conference of ward councillors in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni on Monday, Gordhan warned that no matter how poor, voters were not stupid and would use their votes to express their dissatisfaction with government’s performance.
