Lions excite with good rugby

It is, as former Springbok coach Jake White so aptly noted, almost impossible for a side to go through a campaign as demanding as Super Rugby without being beaten somewhere down the line.

The same is doubtlessly true of the Currie Cup, where the inbred provincial loyalties arouse a passion among the different sets of supporters that is fanned to the intensity of an inferno as the season draws out.

Despite losing 27-14 to an unbeaten Western Province outfit at Newlands last weekend – the Sharks are the other side without the blemish of a loss – one of the most consistently exciting sides to emerge over the last two campaigns has been the Lions.
