Doping witch-hunt grossly unfair

It will come as a great relief to followers of South African sport that Daryl Impey has been cleared of the doping stigma that has hung darkly over his head.

Impey, the first African cyclist to wear the race leader’s yellow jersey in the Tour de France, had supposedly tested positive for using the banned masking agent Probenecid at the Sa Time Trial championships on February 6.

He announced the finding in July while fiercely protesting his innocence.
