Ramaphosa really is that rich

Two weeks ago news reports revealed Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa declared only R76 million of his assets, accumulated in company shares, in the 2014 Register of Members Interests, tabled at parliament.

That, of course, does not get close to how wealthy he is.

Ramaphosa reportedly also owns “30 townhouses in Johannesburg and two flats in Cape Town”. Yes, jaw-dropping stuff – but Forbes has estimated Ramaphosa’s wealth at $700 million (R7.8 billion).
