No better time to walk the talk

One of the reasons why we are hopelessly failing to defeat corruption is our government's failure to walk the talk. It has become a habit for those in positions of power to go out and pledge publicly that ending corruption is government's top priority while privately they do the direct opposite of what they are promising.

Take for example the victimisation of the Mpumalanga government employee who blew the whistle on Premier David Mabuza’s spending spree on cars. Thanks to this employee, Mabuza is being investigated for possible violation of the ministerial handbook by Public Protector Thuli Madonsela for splashing out on six cars since his inauguration in 2009.
