Nkandla: Zuma must answer

Allegations government officials were instructed by ministers and other top bureaucrats to destroy sensitive documents related to the multimillion-rand upgrades to President Jacob Zuma's private residence are the clearest indicator of how close we are to becoming a mafia state.

City Press reported several officials of Public Works, the department under whose watch the Nkandla refurbishments took place, were planning to reveal at their disciplinary hearings how they were ordered by ministers, directors-general and senior departmental security officers to destroy all evidence of what was raised at secret meetings to discuss the Nkandla project. All this is being done to protect one man, Zuma, from facing accountability for his role in this massive theft of public resources.
