Blatant betrayal of the electorate


Over the past few years, the country has seen unprecedented civil unrest, much of which has been triggered by the failure of municipalities to provide basic services such as running water and sanitation.

The Gauteng water crisis is a clear indicator that few lessons have been learnt from the service delivery protests.

Water is a vital life-supporting resource that is a human right the deprivation of which will in all likelihood spark outrage that culminates in residents taking to the streets.
