On a visit to the Grahamstown Festival sometime ago, I told my daughter "now is the time to spoil ourselves and spend some money", so off I went to the ATM, drew some money, and within a flash it was gone.

Talking to people about the incident, it was clear that during the festival people are routinely pick-pocketed.

That experience clouded my enjoyment of the festival, and I never wanted to attend another Grahamstown Festival.

My antipathy grew when a mate related a similar experience in the City of Saints of how her car was jam-locked by a thief who stole all her luggage, her laptop and iPad.
