The bodies of all the people who disappeared in the Mozambican coastal line a few days ago have all been recovered. All the four are confirmed dead.
Limpopo province, assisted by the department of international relations (Dirco), the South African embassy, the Mozambican authorities can now confirm that the last body was recovered early this morning, with the most retrieved late yesterday.
The bodies of Lesego Matsepe, Mmatholo Mogafe, David Kaise, and Gregory Mfune will be repatriated back to South Africa by Monday with the assistance of the Dirco. The four survivors are also on the way back home, except one who came back two days ago for medical attention.
“We are shattered and wish to thank the national government, the president of the republic and the minister of international relations, Ms Lindiwe Sisulu for their swift action when they heard the news”, said the province’s premier, Stanley Mathabatha in a statement.
Mathabatha has already set up a special team that visited the families’ homes in Groblersdal yesterday (Friday). The team consists of social workers and psychologists assisting with al trauma accompanied by this disaster.
“The province is also in communication with the Free State administration were the other two deceased came from.
“The families assisted by Elias Motsoaledi Mayor, Mathebe will accompany each other back to South Africa when all logistics are dealt with in the next two days.”
