A 54-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after her bakkie rolled and dragged her for a few metres near Wandale Road in Newlands, KwaZulu-Natal, earlier today.

It is alleged the woman was fetching something from the back of her bakkie when it rolled backwards and dragged her along, Rising Sun Overport reported.

Netcare 911’s media liaison officer, Athlenda Mathe, said paramedics managed to stabilise the victim and then transported her to a nearby hospital.

In a separate incident, a woman was run over by her own car in White River, Mpumalanga, last year.

Police at the time said the woman was reportedly taking something out of her boot when the car moved backwards and ran her over. It was suspected that the car’s brakes had not been properly applied.
