The motive of the shooting remains unknown.

A 24-year-old man is in a critical condition following a shooting at an eatery in Moreleta Park, east of Pretoria, on Wednesday.

“The shooting happened at a golf course restaurant around 8am,” Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said.

“Paramedics responded to a call and managed to stabilise the man on the scene. He was transported to a nearby hospital under the care of an advanced life support paramedic,” Mathe said.

Mathe said the motive of the shooting was unknown and police were investigating, Rekord East reported.

Garsfontein police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller confirmed the shooting.

“I can confirm that a shooting took place this morning but we are still investigating the matter,” he said.

In a separate incident, a man was reportedly shot and killed at a restaurant in Erasmuskloof, in the east of Pretoria, last year. Brooklyn police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said two men were sitting at a table inside the Coco Bistro restaurant in Castle Walk Centre when an unknown armed man approached them at about 7.30pm.

“The man fired a shot at one of the men at the table and immediately fled the scene,” Weilbach said.

She added the victim died in the restaurant. An eyewitness, Lisa Buys, said she and a friend were having coffee at the restaurant when she suddenly heard an extremely loud noise.
