She is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate Court later on Monday morning on charges of obstruction and defeating the ends of justice.
The NPA laid charges on Friday relating to a case in 2012.
The authority alleges Breytenbach shredded evidence and swiped her work and personal laptops of vital evidence relating to a Khumba Iron Ore investigation.
