The deceased, who worked as a project manager at Tuks, was discovered in a toilet cubicle.

The body of a 65-year-old University of Pretoria employee has been discovered with a plastic bag tied around his head on Wednesday morning.

Police have launched a murder investigation after the employee who went missing since Tuesday afternoon was found  with a plastic bag tied around his head.

The deceased, who worked as a project manager at Tuks, was discovered in a toilet cubicle of the administration building on the campus, Rekord East reported.

Brooklyn police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said the deceased was reported missing by his wife on Tuesday, 5 January after he failed to return home from work.

“A search for the missing man was conducted throughout the night. at About 04:30am his body was discovered by campus security officers, Weilbach added

The deceased has not yet been identified.

In 2014, an incident of suicide occurred at the university after a person had jumped from the Humanities Building at the main campus.

At the time, Tuks spokesperson Nicolize Mulder told The Citizen the university had offered trauma counselling to anyone who had witnessed the suicide.
