Police in Reiger Park on the East Rand are appealing for information to help solve the murders of two men, whose naked bodies were found dumped in the veld next to a clinic. It is believed the men were victims of a mob justice.

According to Reiger Park police spokesperson Mashudu Phathela, the bodies were discovered on Monday. They had sustained serious wounds all over their bodies, Boksburg Advertiser reported.

“It seems as if they were victims of a mob justice, because they appeared to have been beaten with solid objects and stoned, before they were dumped there,” said Phathela.

“Our detectives are, however, investigating the circumstances. Inquiries are ongoing.”

The unidentified bodies were taken to the Germiston State Mortuary, and police are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

Two cases of murder have been opened but no arrests have yet been made.

This comes after residents of an informal settlement near West Village in Kagiso decided to take the law into their own hands after two murders were reported in the Soul City on the West Rand, earlier this month.

The victim was allegedly beaten to death with sticks, stones and concrete blocks. His shack was set alight and burned to the ground. It is believed the mob justice was possibly being linked to one of the murders.
