Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said the unidentified man, estimated to be in his early 40s and neatly dressed, appeared to have been killed execution-style, Brakpan Herald reported.
He added the body was sighted by community members on Friday. They informed the police they had heard a shot the previous evening at about 7pm, during loadshedding. No form of identity was found on the body.
“Investigations are under way to identify the dead man and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the person or persons responsible for the murder. Any person whose family member is in his 40s and missing is advised to contact the Brakpan police station,” said Kgasago.
In a separate incident, an unidentified man believed to be in his 30s was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head and several stab wounds to the chest and back in Illovo Beach, near Winklespruit, KwaZulu-Natal, in February.
Amazimtoti police attended the scene, along with the police search and rescue unit, who removed the body from the beach.
